Changi Airport posts busiest year ever

Singapore-Changi Airport handled over 45 million passengers for the first time ever last year.

Airport egistered 46.5 million passengers, aircraft movements 302,000 until 2011, an increase of 10.7 per cent and 14.5 per cent the year before, respectively.

December 2011 also airport was the busiest ever month with 4.53 million passengers, 11.4 percent more in 2010. There were 27,700 aircraft movements during the month of 9.9 percent compared to the December jump.

A strong demand in Asia-Pacific tour was a key growth driver for Changi Airport in 2011. South-East Asia, South-East Asia were the two best performing registry areas, while the digit growth traffic to South Asia, South West Pacific also enjoyed positive growth.

Hong Kong, Jakarta, Kuala Lumpur, Bangkok, Manila was occupied the positions of the top five among the top 10 tracks in Changi Airport. Between sectors at least half a million people, Taipei, Manila, New Delhi, Melbourne, Hong Kong registered the strongest percentage increase.

In 2011, seven new carriers including Air Macau, Hong Kong airlines, TransAsia Airways, Finnair, Indigo Lao airlines joined the portfolio of the airline's airport.
